Workshops on Other Issues

I. Traditional Foods, Birthing and Caring Practices for Mothers and Babies

Knowledge of traditional foods, their uses and traditional caring practices is rapidly dying, in part a victim of globalisation of food, health and beauty marketing. This workshop will invite participants to discuss this issue in their own national context, particularly related to foods thought to be useful for breastfeeding mothers and as complementary foods and other caring and healing practices. Learn about some of the traditional foods of the Philippines and how they are used.

  • Healing foods to repair damaged lives - Ines Fernandez, ARUGAAN Philippines, Facilitator

  • Promotion of traditional birthing practices: CHETNA's strategy for ensuring breastfeeding - Vd. Smita Bajpai, CHETNA, India
  • Healing touch - Ellen Rivas, ARUGAAN, Philippines

II. Global Breastfeeding Charter - Anwar Fazal, WABA, Malaysia,
       Facilitator

This is an opportunity for interested participants to give specific input into the ongoing work in developing a Global Breastfeeding Charter. There will also be a box where you can leave written contributions.
