The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals
& organisations concerned with the protection, promotion & support of breastfeeding worldwide.
WABA action is based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the
Global Strategy for Infant & Young Child Feeding. WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF & an NGO
in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

Working group discusses strategies for nutrition and breastfeeding

t an informal meeting of some members of the ACC/SCN Working Group on Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding held on Saturday, participants engaged in preliminary discussions of issues that they expect to be raised at the Subcommittee on Nutrition's meeting scheduled for March in Katmandu. According to Lida Lhotska the following was discussed: 

    . Maternity legislation to reach the fourth target of the Innocenti Declaration. Long -and short- term strategies were discussed using a rights approach. 

    . Implementation of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes, including strategies for linking the Code with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. 

    . The UNICEF Care Strategy for Nutrition, which focuses on six aspects of care that have the most impact on children's nutritional status, aged 03.
