We are
mammals!

Spiny anteaters
Platypus

Hey, Mommy says that I breastfed a lot. that makes me a mammal, doesn't it?

Sure does! But you were born of an egg?!

EGG? Are you crazy?  I was born from my mommy's tummy! Are mammals born from eggs, that's funny?

No, it was just a joke!  The majority of  mammals are born from the mother's womb.  But my teacher says that six of the 4,237 species of mammals lay eggs.  They are the platypus from Australia and five types of  Echnidas (Spiny Ant Eaters) from New Guinea.

And how do they nurse??

When the eggs break and the babies are born, they drink their mother's milk that drips out of big skin pores. (They have no breasts).  And there is another kind of mammal that's really interesting: Marsupials.
