Breastfeeding Support Group

Did you know?

Breastfeeding support groups can provide women and their families with timely and accurate information, as well as practical and emotional support to promote optimal breastfeeding.

WABA calls on Breastfeeding Support Groups to:

  • Promote the development and implementation of breastfeeding policies
  • Reach out to women before, during and after childbirth to promote and support breastfeeding
  • Share positive breastfeeding experiences to help a mother recognise and address common breastfeeding difficulties
  • Teach mothers practical skills for breastfeeding especially in vulnerable populations
  • Work with other stakeholders along the 1000 days timeline to create a warm chain of support for breastfeeding
