About

‘FirstFood for Thought’ is the official blog of the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA). WABA is a global network of individuals and organisations working to protect, promote and support breastfeeding worldwide. We envision a world where where mothers and families are enabled to feed and care optimally for their infants and young children, and work with our allies to make this a reality. Our blog seeks to give a platform to the myriad voices of the movement, offering diverse perspectives and creative common sense solutions to inspire and stimulate action.

Our flagship World Breastfeeding Week campaign connects millions of celebrants around the world to galvanise action to protect, promote and support breastfeeding. Now, we want to bring our allies closer together and collaborate on creating a  Warm Chain of Support for Breastfeeding and the Empowering Parents campaign.

In our complex and increasingly inequitable world, our work impacts every major issue of our time.  Follow our blogs, comment and become a part of the debates that empower women (and men), save lives and crystallise human rights.
