The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals
& organisations concerned with the protection, promotion & support of breastfeeding worldwide.
WABA action is based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the
Global Strategy for Infant & Young Child Feeding. WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF & an NGO
in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). |

BPNI is undertaking this activity in Delhi, and if you may like to adapt it, you are most welcome!
How to involve schools:
- Identify 10-15 schools in your area
- Identify school teachers in the selected schools
- Brief them about good and bad practices of Infant & young child feeding and child health
- Talk to them how to interact with their students from class VIII-XII
- Give a project work to the students - visiting homes and record three good things and three bad things on the subject.
- Compare the practices of earlier generation
- Form a lead school to organise the programme.
- Call them to the lead school during the Week.
- Encourage children to draw painting out of the findings
- Select five entries from each school
- Conduct painting or cartoon competition. Theme can be "breastfeeding helps to increase children's IQ"
- Give away prizes/certificates
- Momento to lead school
- Have a panel discussion or debate on the project result - eg. The good and bad practices on the issue.
- Compile those practices and send your report to us.
