Seed Grants Project

About the Project

The Seed Grants Project aims to galvanise action on sustainable breastfeeding campaigns, to achieve long-term impact at all levels. WABA provides financial incentives for existing or new projects that are aligned with our campaigns to link breastfeeding to sustainable development.

In 2018, WABA awarded seed grants for Parent-Friendly Workplace initiatives, Warm Chain of Support for Breastfeeding campaigns and World Breastfeeding Week campaigns.

Objectives

  • Incentivise new or existing projects aligned with WABA’s priorities and campaigns

  • Involve a range of stakeholders to focus on low- to middle-income countries

  • Provide a clear plan of action and develop best practice models

  • Develop innovative and sustainable approaches that can be replicated in other contexts

Outcomes

  • Actors at all levels and across different settings are engaged and involved
  • Promotion of exclusive and optimal breastfeeding especially among vulnerable and at risk groups
  • A sense of global solidarity is created with replicable best practice models that can be emulated and adapted to scale up breastfeeding globally
