About Healthy Documents

Healthy Documents is a compilation of resolutions, declarations and charters on health made at international meetings and also related UN instruments, such as international covenants, treaties, programmes and platforms of action which support these declarations and which are ratified by various governments. The declarations and UN instruments are in the areas of medical ethics, health rights, public health, health and social development, nutrition, children's health and women's health. The information originally contained on this site was initially produced from the “Healthy Documents” publication WABA produced in 2001.

Eleven years on, WABA has worked to update the information on the occasion of the 3rd Peoples Health Assembly (PHA3), to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from July 6 to 11, 2012. This updated site continues to be a source of useful information, and an important action tool for advocacy to promote people's health.
This website provides access to some of the most important resolutions, declarations and charters on health made at international meetings. It aims to support those working to develop healthy policy and practice in whatever part of the world they live as part of efforts to achieve health for all. It also showcases the history of two organisations' advocacy work as an inspiring example of implementing a UN instrument, and in realizing an international declaration. About The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA)
 
The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals and organisations concerned with the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the WHO/UNICEF Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding. Its core partners are International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN), La Leche League International (LLLI), International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), Wellstart International, Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) and LINKAGES. WABA is in consultative status with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
