The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals
& organisations concerned with the protection, promotion & support of breastfeeding worldwide.
WABA action is based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the
Global Strategy for Infant & Young Child Feeding. WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF & an NGO
in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
  


 Disarmament Campaign in favor of Babies

 

                                                             


A group of health professionals in a Sao Paulo city neighborhood (San Mateus) organized a "Disarmament Campaign in favor of Babies". The people of the neighborhood donated feeding bottles and teats which were destroyed in the street in front of the local health centre, on 17 Sep., as part of the closing ceremonies of WBW2004 in Brazil.
 

For  Brazilians this makes eminent sense, as they are now living through a nation-wide disarmament campaign during which the people are being encouraged to hand in to the authorities any fire arms that they may have at home.
