Cultural events enrich
Forum experience

Thai Theatre

Thai Theatre

o Zachou Themis, a participant from Greece, "the cultural performances came as a pleasant surprise. Their beauty was in the exuberance and spontaenity that we experienced".

The past four days have seen variety of activities - and the experiences have not been limited to workshops and discussions. There has also been a healthy exchange of arts and culture. The Forum has created a global village in the truest sense of the term.

The dance performance by the Thai children during the inaugural function started the Forum off with a multivision presentation showing a picture of the breastfeeding experiences in Thailand.

The children of the Maya theatre showed us the socio-economic conditions of the Thai society that have deeply impressed their young minds, for a performance that was subtle yet hard-hitting.

The Brazilian mime performance was a clever story set to music. And the Latin American night was a continuous flow of entertainment: dances, live music, spontaneous singing and mime. Everyone got out and danced. 'Suck Me Baby', the Swedish cabaret presented by the Theatre DaCapo, spoke volumes on the naturalness of breastfeeding and the bond it creates between the mother and her child. The piece also poked fun at the apathy of the government centres when it comes to dealing with women and children's problems.

In the midst of the heavy Forum schedule, participants found the time to enjoy themselves - and learn - at the wealth of theatre and cultural activities. Tonight, on the final evening of the Forum, ten different countries will each present something of their culture on stage.
